Church of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity, a unique church of the 19th century
The Church of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity in the village of Bolshaya Svorotva (Baranovichi District, Brest Oblast) is the only triangular temple of the 19th century in the country. The first Uniate church of unusual shape was built in 1747. It was a triangular structure with a hint roof, which could be entered from any of the three sides. The church served as a parish for believers of three denominations - Orthodox, Catholics and Uniates. In the center of the temple there was a triangular altar with three icons. Believers of different confessions entered each from their own side.
In 1823, it was decided to erect a new church on the same site, but already of rabble stone - also triangular, repeating the architectural features of its predecessor. Multi-colored walls made of rabble stone are somewhat reminiscent of a fortress. On the top of the unusual three-sided roof rises a triangular turret with a tent and a cross.
In 1943, the temple was destroyed by fire; restoration work began only in 2006. In 2009, the fully restored church was consecrated in honor of the Life-Giving Trinity. The unusual temple is on the State List of Historical and Cultural Values of Belarus.
