A theatrical procession of Father Frosts and Snow Maidens along the central streets of winter Minsk gathers hundreds of spectators every year. Apart from traditional fairytale characters it features the characters from the famous cartoons. Last year the participants of the street show were riding new tractors instead of carriages.

Father Frost’s House in the Minsk Zoo
Father Frost’s house will open its doors to the public in the Minsk Zoo in the run-up to the holidays. A special program has been prepared for visitors. It includes the theatrical performance “New Year Adventures at the Zoo” (25 and 29 December), the New Year battle with Father Frost near a fir tree (2-6 January) and Belarusian kolyadki (7 January).

Father Frost’s House in the Gorky Park in Minsk
Father Frost’s house will open in the Gorky Park, the heart of Minsk, in the anticipation of the winter holidays. Here the good magician and his faithful assistants - squirrels and bunnies - will be receiving guests until Christmas. By tradition, Father Frost will inquire about the main events of the past year, wish a happy New Year, play games and puzzles and happily listen to poems and songs.

Minsk International Christmas Opera Forum 2018
The program of the Minsk International Christmas Opera Forum is something to be enjoyed. It features Don Pasquale opera buffa, Olga Peretyatko’s Recital, Tosca by Giacomo Puccini (with Serbian diva Dragana Radakovic as Tosca), La Boheme and Salome operas. The festival will conclude with a gala concert starring famous singers and laureates of the 2018 contest.

New Year Program in the Upper Town
The Upper Town concert hall offers a broad variety of New Year events, like Christmas Jazz by the Minsk Classic Orchestra under the baton of Maxim Rassokha (23 December, 19:00), a concert by Cappella Sonorus that will perform New Year hits in the genres of soul, funk, rhythm and blues (26 December, 19:00), or Christmas Meetings with soloists of the Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus.

The Nutcracker and the Mouse King Show by Ilya Averbukh
The famous figure skater, coach, choreographer, and producer Ilya Averbukh will present his show The Nutcracker and the Mouse King starring Olympic pair skating champions Alexei Yagudin and Tatiana Totmianina. The two-century old fairytale by Hoffmann will come alive again due to celebrity characters, amazing costumes and original decorations.

The Warmth of Eternal Frosts in the Belarusian State Circus
The Diamond Circus of Yakutia will come to Minsk for the first time to show its new project The Warmth of Eternal Frosts, a spectacular show featuring unique traditions of Northern peoples. The show will feature reindeers, polar foxes, and Eskimo dogs.

Christmas Tree Show
Children from all over the country will come to Minsk to join the Christmas Tree Show featuring heroes of the Benevolence Formula music tale. They will travel across a scotching desert and snowy vastnesses, learn Christmas and New Year traditions, and witness the appearance of a fairy garden in snow.

The Bolshoi Theater invites those who seek romanticism and love classical dance to enjoy a night show on 13 January. Visitors to the Big New Year Ball will have a chance to enjoy live music, styled photo zones, competitions, entertainment, a gala concert and mini performances.

Minsk’s many Christmas markets are the right place to have your Christmas shopping done. Pesochnitsa invites for handmade workshops, creative Christmas sets and a display of ice figures. Handmade souvenirs and mulled wine are on offer at the Kalyadny Kirmash market near the Palace of Sports. Unusual glass houses and tasty baked goods are available at the New Year’s fair near the country’s biggest Christmas tree.
Santa Run Minsk will debut in the Belarusian capital this year. Participants are encouraged to dress up as Santa Claus and run one of four races (1, 5, 10 or 15km). The event will be held around the Tsnyanskoye water storage basin in the north of the city.
