Saint Sophia Cathedral in Polotsk

Saint Sophia Cathedral in Polotsk is situated on the highest bank of the Western Dvina River. It was built in the middle of the 11th century, approximately the same period of time as its peers in Kiev and Novgorod. For its construction Polotsk Prince Vseslav Bryachislavich invited professional architects from different countries.
