Zambia interested in assembly of Belarusian tractors

MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) – Zambia is interested in setting up the assembly of Belarusian tractors. The issue was discussed during the visit of the Zambian delegation led by Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Defense Sturdy Mwale to MTZ, BelTA learned from the enterprise.

“We have chosen Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark) after the analysis of all proposals on the market. This is a big manufacturer of reliable equipment with huge experience. We would like to use this experience in our country,” Sturdy Mwale said.

Zambian visitors familiarized themselves with the enterprise, modern production technologies and the lineup of equipment. After that they had a meeting with MTZ Director General Fyodor Domotenko.

According to the permanent secretary for the Ministry of Defense, the Zambian side was interested in the development of cooperation with Minsk Tractor Works. “For many years Zambia has been dependent on copper mining. Now it is important to develop agriculture. We have put order in our country and want to promote mechanization. The range of BELARUS equipment includes everything we need, from small tractors which can replace grubbing hoes in the near future to more powerful tractors. All MTZ equipment, including municipal vehicles, will be in demand in Zambia,” Sturdy Mwale said.

The head of the delegation assured that the Ministry of Defense is ready to guarantee the promotion of BELARUS tractors on the territory of Zambia. He added that Zambia can become a springboard for the penetration of neighboring markets.
