MINSK, 1 February (BelTA) – The recoverable reserves of the Yuzhno-Shatilkovskoye oilfield in Gomel Oblast are estimated at more than $100 million, Sergei Mamchik, the director of the geology department at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus, said in a press conference at BelTA’s press center on 1 February.
In recent years, specialists of the National Research Center for Geology and Belorusneft have discovered a number of new oil deposits in Belarus. "For example, the recoverable reserves of the Yuzhno-Shatilkovskoye oilfield are estimated at more than $100 million. The exploration works have already been completed in this field. The drilling of one well cost some $2-2.5 million,” Sergei Mamchik said.
He noted that the recently discovered Ugolskoye deposit in Gomel Oblast is regarded as another promising oilfield. It is estimated to hold around 1.7 million tonnes of oil.
