Vietnam’s Lao Cai seeks to expand cooperation with Belarus’ Brest Oblast

MINSK, 19 May (BelTA) - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee of Lao Cai Province of Vietnam Trinh Xuan Truong took part in the international forum Brest 2022 in the format of a video conference, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Vietnam.

The Vietnamese representative participated in the event thanks to the support of the Belarusian embassy in Hanoi. Trinh Xuan Truong emphasized the existing potential for the development of trade and economic relations between the regions of Belarus and Vietnam. He expressed Lao Cai's readiness to expand business and humanitarian contacts with Belarusian partners.

The participation of Lao Cai Province in the Brest 2022 forum became another step towards strengthening interregional ties, including the agreement on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation between Brest Oblast and Lao Cai Province, signed in 2017.

Belarus’ main exports to Vietnam in recent years have been potash fertilizers, trucks, haulers, tractors, tires, milk and dairy products, frozen beef, synthetic threads, and polyamides. Belarus' main imports from Vietnam have been communications equipment, computer and office equipment, seafood, rice, nuts, footwear and clothing, natural rubber, tropical fruits, tea, coffee and spices.
