MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) – Issues of trade and economic cooperation are in focus of Belarus Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas’s visit to Vietnam, BelTA learned from the press service of the ministry.
Andrei Dapkiunas met with Nguyen Tuan Phong, Deputy Head of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The parties reaffirmed the willingness to develop a package of measures to raise the efficiency of economic cooperation in pursuance of the instructions of the heads of state, and to expand cooperation in science, education and tourism. Following the talks, the parties agreed to make the best use of humanitarian contacts, including with the help of Vietnamese graduates of the Belarusian universities.
Nguyen Tuan Phong stressed that the Vietnamese people have a warm regard to Belarusians who provided exclusive fraternal assistance and support during the difficult times. This is a solid foundation for further deepening of cooperation between the two countries.
A wide range of issues of the Belarusian-Vietnamese cooperation was reviewed during a meeting between Andrei Dapkiunas and Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son. The parties stressed that it is important to build sustainable and balanced trade relations. The parties agreed to continue the dialogue during the ministerial consultations due in Minsk in 2019.
Andrei Dapkiunas met with Deputy Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen The Hung to discuss supplies of Belarusian buses for Vietnam’s urban transport system, prospects for Belarusian producers to join infrastructure development projects of the Vietnamese capital, expansion of cooperation between the municipalities of the capitals of Belarus an Vietnam. The parties agreed to accelerate the coordination of the cooperation plan between Minsk and Hanoi. The document is to be signed during a visit of representatives of the Hanoi People’s Committee to Belarus in May-June 2019.
The Belarusian deputy minister of foreign affairs met with Director of Au Viet Industry Hguyen Quang Hung to discuss the supplies of MAZ trucks and the setting up of the joint venture MAZ Asia and the Belarusian-Vietnamese joint dairy company in Vietnam.
Prospects of expanding supplies of Belarusian pharmaceutical products to Vietnam were in the spotlight of the talks with representatives of Vimepharco Company.
