MINSK DISTRICT, 8 September (BelTA) – Belarus believes it is important to build cooperation with African countries, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Leonid Zayats told the media on 8 September, BelTA has learned.
Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo visited the Dzerzhinsky agricultural company as part of his official visit to Belarus. The foreign delegation was shown around an exhibition of products of the Belarusian food industry enterprises, namely meat, dairy, bakery and other products.
“We need to build ‘bridges’ with African countries. It is great that the president of Equatorial Guinea has come to Belarus on an official visit. He is interested in close cooperation with our country. He is interested in advanced technologies in agriculture, industry, medicine, and education,” Leonid Zayats said.
According to him, Belarus is also interested in the African market. “This is a new continent for our country. We are making the first steps in our cooperation in various areas,” the deputy prime minister said.
“We see that our food exhibition has impressed our guests. We can supply milk powder, process it there and sell it not only in Equatorial Guinea, but also on the entire African continent,” Leonid Zayats said.
Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo paid an official visit to Belarus on 6-8 September. The central part of the visit was the talks with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko. The official meeting of the two heads of state took place at the Palace of Independence. The delegations signed a package of bilateral documents aimed at developing relations in a wide range of areas - from economy to humanitarian affairs.
The visit made part of Belarus' policy to intensify cooperation with African countries and confirms the mutual interest in cooperation.
