ZHITOMIR, 3 October (BelTA) – Contracts to ship over 100 trolleybuses to Ukrainian cities are supposed to be signed, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Ukraine Igor Sokol during the eighth session of the Belarus-Ukraine advisory council on business cooperation on 3 October.
The ambassador said: “[The Belarusian automaker] MAZ and [the mechanical engineering company] Belkommunmash are taking an active part in international tenders on renewing the fleet of public transport vehicles in Ukraine. Large batches of buses have already been shipped to Zaporozhye and Nikolayev. Shipments of passenger vehicles to Mariupol and Ivano-Frankovsk have begun. A contract on delivering 49 Belkommunmash trolleybuses to Zhitomir will be signed today. Mariupol will get a total of 64 MAZ buses ahead of the investment forum that will take place in the city under the aegis of the Ukrainian head of state in October 2019. A contract for delivering 72 Belkommunmash trolleybuses is being prepared for signing, too.”
“We also know about major contracts on buying freight cars from Kryukov Railway Car Building Works for Belarusian Railways and Belaruskali,” the diplomat noted.
Igor Sokol stressed the uniqueness of the Belarus-Ukraine advisory council on business cooperation and the 2nd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine since representatives of the private sector are granted an opportunity to talk to heads of virtually all the oblasts of the two countries and to a large number of Belarusian government officials. “I think this uniqueness should produce an effect,” he added.
