MINSK, 28 August (BelTA) – Turkish investors and representatives of large companies are ready to step up their operation in Belarus. The statement was made by Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu after he met with his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makei on 28 August, BelTA has learned.
Mevlut Cavusoglu reminded that while in Minsk he had met with representatives of the Turkish private sector, who work on the Belarusian market. They spoke in positive terms about their work in the country and the terms Belarus offers to investors.
Mevlut Cavusoglu underlined the importance of negotiations with Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and the great significance of the visit of the Belarusian head of state to Ankara in spring 2019. In his words, today’s negotiations touched upon topical aspects of Belarus-Turkey cooperation, in particular, economic cooperation. Cooperation on international platforms was mentioned, in particular, fight against terrorism.
The Turkish minister of foreign affairs said he believes that balancing the trade is one of the most important tasks in bilateral cooperation. Special emphasis will also be placed on increasing supplies of Belarusian goods to Turkey. Attention should also be paid to the development of tourism and air service, Mevlut Cavusoglu added.
The minister of foreign affairs stated that Turkey supports Belarus’ intention to join the WTO.
