MINSK, 19 November (BelTA) – A trial run of an internal combustion engine factory in the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone has taken place, BelTA has learned.
The factory will make Euro-5 and Euro-6 compliant engines for trucks, utility vehicles, and buses using completely knocked down (CKD) kits. The engines are designed to last for at least 1 million km regardless of operation conditions. The factory will initially make 10,000 engines per annum. By 2026 the enterprise will reach the full designed output capacity of 20,000 engines per annum. The engines will satisfy the domestic demand and will be exported.
The project is being implemented by OOO MAZ-Weichai. The joint venture has been established by the Belarusian automobile engine company MAZ and the Chinese corporation Weichai. The joint venture became a resident of the park in October 2017. The construction of the factory began in April 2018.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming, top officials of the Belarusian Industry Ministry, MAZ, the industrial park, OOO MAZ-Weichai, and Weichai Group took part in the ceremony. The trial run was initiated by Weichai Group President Tang Xuguang and MAZ Director General Dmitry Katerinich by pressing the start button.
