MINSK, 25 September (BelTA) - The trade between Belarus’ Minsk Oblast and Sweden surged by almost 40% in January-July 2018 as against the same period in 2017, Minsk Oblast Vice Governor Nikolai Rogashchuk told the media after the meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to Belarus Christina Johannesson and Minsk Oblast Governor Anatoly Isachenko in Minsk on 25 September, BelTA has learned.
"The trade between Minsk Oblast and Sweden amounted to about $40 million in January-July of 2018, which was up by almost 40% over the same period of the previous year. The cooperation with Sweden has intensified in tourism and industry, for example, in wood processing,” Nikolai Rogashchuk said.
In Minsk Oblast the ambassador will visit a number of enterprises. The vice governor expressed hope that the parties will discover new areas of cooperation and bolster economic and humanitarian ties.
In January-July of 2018 Belarus’ export exceeded $15 million (up by 33%), import amounted to about $24 million (up by 43%).
