MINSK, 6 October (BelTA) – Three new BelAZ haul trucks with the carrying capacity of 136 tonnes have started working in Ukraine. The trucks were handed over to ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih Company, BelTA has learned.
These are the first trucks out of the five 136-tonne trucks delivered to Ukrainian partners as part of the investment program ArcelorMittal is implementing in Ukraine. Two more trucks are being assembled and will enter into service by the end of the year.
According to Igor Bondar, Director of OOO STLTs BelAZ Ukraine (BelAZ’s official dealership in Ukraine), over the last five years ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih bought 26 BelAZ trucks, thus replacing more than half of its heavy-duty truck fleet. At present the mining branch of the company uses 30 haul trucks, seven dust control sprinkler trucks, and a wheeled bulldozer made by BelAZ.
A contract on delivering five high-performance haul trucks has been signed this year. An average BelAZ haul truck travels for 70,000-80,000km per year while working 24/7 and 30 days per month. The new trucks are fully compliant with high safety requirements and environmental standards. They offer comfortable driving experience as well, Igor Bondar mentioned during the solemn ceremony held to commission the new trucks.
The public joint-stock company (OAO) BelAZ is the managing company of the holding company BelAZ. BelAZ is the world's leading manufacturer of haul trucks and transport equipment for mining industry and civil engineering industry. BelAZ accounts for some 30% of the world market of haul trucks with an extremely large carrying capacity. The company makes the world’s largest haul truck with the carrying capacity of 450 tonnes.
