MINSK, 13 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim expects a tanker bearing 85,000 tonnes of Norwegian oil to arrive in Klaipeda today, BelTA learned from Belneftekhim Press Secretary Aleksandr Tishchenko.

The spokesman said: “We look forward to the arrival of a tanker with Norwegian oil in the Klaipeda port today. A tanker delivered 85,000 tonnes of Azeri Light oil from SOCAR to the Yuzhny port of Odessa yesterday.”

BelTA reported earlier that in January 2020 Belarus bought the first consignment of Norwegian oil (80,000 tonnes) to be processed by OAO Naftan. The oil was transshipped in the Klaipeda port. Another four tankers with oil Belarus bought from traders arrived in the Klaipeda port in March. The oil was delivered from Lithuania to Belarus by rail.

Apart from that, in March the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) sent three tankers with about 250,000 tonnes of oil for Belarus. This oil was delivered to the port of Odessa and then pumped by pipeline to Mozyr Oil Refinery. Belneftekhim Chairman Andrei Rybakov was quoted as saying that SOCAR may deliver up to 1 million tonnes of oil to Belarus in 2020.
