MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei called upon representatives of the private sector from Switzerland and France to more vigorously invest in Belarus. The presentation took place as part of a Belarusian-Swiss business forum in the city of Genthod, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Makei stressed that Switzerland is an important trade and economic partner of Belarus in Europe. The Swiss company Stadler Minsk, which produces rolling stock for railways, is a bright example of successful Western investments in the Belarusian economy. Its success also confirms the stability and reliability of the conditions Belarus offers to foreign companies.

According to Vladimir Makei, Belarus has no geographical or political preferences in working with investors. The country is interested in creating common Eurasian economic space with the guaranteed freedom of movement of goods, services, people, and capital from Lisbon to Vladivostok and beyond. Vladimir Makei called upon representatives of European companies to become the driver of implementation of the integration of integrations initiative suggested by the Belarus president and begin by supporting the establishment of direct and pragmatic contacts between supranational bodies of the Eurasian Economic Union and the European Union.

Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei is in Switzerland on 7-9 April. He is expected to participate in the 68th session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
