The matter was discussed at a meeting of Belarus’ Vice Premier Vladimir Semashko with the Azerbaijani delegation led by Ganja Mayor Elmar Valiyev on 16 November, BelTA has learned.

According to Vladimir Semashko, Belarus and Azerbaijan have a potential to enter a new level in the bilateral trade and economic cooperation. For instance, the Ganja Automobile Plant produces vehicles in cooperation with Belarus’ MAZ. “I think we should go forward and supply agricultural equipment. Elmar Valiyev said for his part that the delegation of Azerbaijan had already visited Gomel, Ganja’s sister city, and Minsk. A store of Belarusian goods will soon open in Ganja. Similar selling spots have already been operating in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. The Mayor praised the high quality of the Belarusian food products and added that Azerbaijan is also ready to supply products which Belarus needs.

Elmar Valiyev told the media that the Azerbaijani delegation has showed big interest in Belarusian dairy and meat companies, the Belarusian know-how in the agricultural sector, including the development of agro-towns. Apart from that Ganja Automobile Plant plans to continue its cooperation with MAZ in order to expand its lineup with new bus models. “Our relations with Belarus have been developing in all the areas, including industry, agriculture, science and culture,” the Mayor added.
