MINSK, 15 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian government is expected to work out a stimulus package to boost the tourism industry amidst the coronavirus pandemic, Sports and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk told the Belarus 1 TV channel on 14 April, BelTA has learned.
“We are now studying coronavirus support measures implemented by Russia, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, because the countries that were affected more by the coronavirus are already taking some steps at the government level. We will also propose a support package. We need relief on taxes, loans and rent payments. We are working on it. I believe decisions will be made in the nearest future,” Sergei Kovalchuk said.
Last week Belarus managed to repatriate all the Belarusian tourists who bought travel packages from travel agencies and got stranded abroad because of the border closure. The decisions on travelers who went abroad on their own will be made in the nearest future.
