MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) - Belarus has something to offer the Russian Federation; the potential for cooperation has not yet been exhausted, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Leonid Zayats said as he opened the second Belarusian Food Forum in St. Petersburg, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian government.
The forum brought together about 20 food producers from Belarus. "This event is an impetus to the development of cooperation between Belarus and St. Petersburg. We did well in 2022. We increased trade by more than 1.3 times. The food exports to St Petersburg were estimated at $667 million. We have something to offer to consumers in Leningrad Region and the Russian Federation as a whole," the deputy prime minister said.
In 2022 the trade of Belarus with Leningrad Oblast totaled $834.1 million, and with St. Petersburg - $2.204 billion, the press service added.
The second Belarusian Food Forum is running in St. Petersburg on 14- 15 March. Its goal is to increase food supplies from the Republic of Belarus to retail chains of the regions of the Russian Federation.
