MINSK, 5 August (BelTA) – The Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry carried out one comprehensive audit and 15 continuous-supervision audits of the Belarusian nuclear power plant construction project in H1 2015, BelTA learned from the Department’s press service.
The Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry (Gosatomnadzor) examined how well the operating company fulfills the requirements specified by the nuclear power plant construction license. According to the source, Gosatomnadzor specialists went to the Russian enterprises that make equipment for the nuclear power plant two times.
The press service noted that the Republic of Belarus fully honors its international commitments in the field of nuclear and radiation safety.
In H1 2015 the Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry issued 22 new licenses for activities that involve sources of ionizing radiation. As many as 185 permits to import, export, and transit sources of ionizing radiation were issued. Apart from that, the agency amended and expanded 14 permits and extended the validity period of 46 permits. The Nuclear and Radiation Safety Department also carried out 79 audits of the enterprises that use sources of ionizing radiation.
