Russia’s Khakassia eager to buy Belarusian trucks, agricultural machines

MINSK, 8 June (BelTA) – Khakassia strongly needs Belarusian haul trucks and agricultural machines, BelTA learned from Viktor Zimin, Head of the Republic of Khakassia, Russia on 8 June.

Viktor Zimin said: “We are developing our coal industry. We are opening three new open-pit coal mines. Certainly, we need BelAZ trucks.”

The Governor reminded that Khakassia borders on Kuznetsk Basin and is also a major coal-extracting region of Russia. “All in all, we are Russia’s fourth largest coal extractor,” he said. “We have over 300 BelAZ trucks in use. We also have a mining industry and Russia’s only molybdenum factory. They use BelAZ trucks as well.”

The Head of the Republic of Khakassia underlined that they know the entire lineup of BelAZ trucks. “We’ve been using them for a very long time. We would like to become much closer to each other. I would like Belarus to contribute to repairs and maintenance of Belarusian vehicles. Belarus-made vehicles account for 70% of our agricultural machines, not 20%, not 10%. We have a solid base. We don’t want to replace [Belarusian machines],” said Viktor Zimin.

The head of the Khakassia administration did not rule out the possibility that Khakassia may create a well-developed base for repairing BelAZ trucks on par with the one that was established in Kemerovo Oblast (Kuznetsk Basin) some time ago.

Moreover, the Head of the Republic of Khakassia spoke in favor of tighter integration. He said he would like young Belarusians to study in Russia and stay to work there in order to promote Belarusian products. Young Russians could do the same.
