MINSK, 29 August (BelTA) - Russia’s Astrakhan Oblast is interested in buying Belarusian electric buses, Astrakhan Oblast Governor Alexander Zhilkin said at the meeting with Belarus’ Prime Minister Sergei Rumas on 29 August, BelTA has learned.
“We are interested in electric transport. Perhaps we will decide on the matter in autumn. We are currently in talks on electric buses. Today we have seen Belarusian electric buses,” said Alexander Zhilkin.
For the delivery of electric buses Astrakhan Oblast hopes to take advantage of the mechanisms Belarus uses to promote exports. “This is the transport of today and tomorrow. It is quite expensive, though and we will need support from the state,” the governor believes.
Astrakhan farmers know Belarusian machinery very well. According to agrarians, Belarusian tractors are of the same quality and even better than the machinery of the famous American brand. Last year the agro-industrial complex purchased more than 240 units of MTZ equipment, and the Russian region is interested in setting up a service center on its territory.
