MINSK, 16 July (BelTA) – Sberbank intends to pay close attention to the transfer of technologies to the Belarusian market. President, Chairman of the Board of PAO Sberbank of Russia German Gref made the relevant statement after meeting with Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 16 July, BelTA has learned.
German Gref said: “We had to deal with a complication the economic tail of the previous crisis represents. But we’ve been able to seriously improve the situation in the last 12 months. Now our business is back on the regular track. This is why we’ve agreed that during the next year we are going to pay close attention to the transfer of technologies to the Belarusian market. We will develop a new product lineup and new technologies here.”
The Sberbank head noted that the meeting with the Belarusian head of state had touched upon what could be done together in the area of new technologies. The transfer of technologies into the banking industry and other branches of the economy and the social policy were mentioned. “The president showed a strong interest. We are now one of the leaders in making new technologies. Sberbank has recently signed an agreement with the Russian government to become a center of competence for the development of artificial intelligence in the country. We take care of the development of ecosystems, which encompass a broad range of industries,” he added.
Apart from that, the sides agreed to continue a more detailed conversation featuring a demonstration of the technological solutions Sberbank has developed.
“New technologies always mean new investments. If we talk about Sberbank, we invest roughly $2 billion in new technologies per year on the average. It is good that we don’t need to invest so heavily here [in Belarus]. Here we can use the solutions we’ve created in Russia. It will make things easier,” German Gref added.
