Russian expert dismisses complaints about quality of Belarusian products as absurd

MINSK, 4 February (BelTA) – Complaints about the quality of Belarusian products are absurd, BelTA learned from Alexander Olshevsky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the joint venture Eurasian Engineering Company, Director General of the joint venture Rosbelmarketingtsentr, during the video briefing hosted by the website of the National Press Center of Belarus on 4 February.

The expert stressed that complaints about Belarusian sausages and cheeses are absurd. “It is understandable that if we use Russian standards or standards set by the international community as a metering stick, then we will not be able to find a product that matches them completely at all,” said Alexander Olshevsky.

The expert believes that the minor difficulties with Belarusian export to Russia can be overcome and will not exist for a long time. “Belarusian products have the competitive advantage of quality, manufacturing process control, and raw materials from the start,” the expert noted.

According to Alexander Olshevsky, it would be strange if Russian companies let the expanding presence of Belarusian products on the Russian market pass unnoticed. “There is only one major consideration though: don’t politicize the situation,” he said. The expert believes that claims stating that someone in Russia intends to restrict the expansion of Belarusian products due to their country of origin are unjustified. “It is not so. Consumers and government agencies are interested in Belarusian products. All the possible conditions for this trade to continue have been enabled,” stressed Alexander Olshevsky.
