MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) -  According to the exchange trading in January-May 2024, companies from Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan became the most active users of the industrial and consumer goods platform of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), securing the largest amount of transactions among all non-resident participants. In value terms, these countries accounted for about 75% of transactions made by foreign companies on the BUCE’s B2B platform this year, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange.

According to the BUCE press service, currently among the participants in the exchange trading in industrial and consumer goods are seven countries.

“According to statistics, the industrial and consumer goods platform is mainly used as a procurement tool, which helps Belarusian enterprises meet their needs in various commodity items, including solving urgent tasks of import substitution. The availability of offers from non-resident suppliers in the trading system not only expands the opportunities for domestic participants to purchase the goods they need, but also increases the efficiency of their procurement activities due to the use of a competitive pricing mechanism. Accordingly, for foreign producers the exchange serves as an alternative sales channel, simplifying their work in the market of the Republic of Belarus. In particular, this year residents of the Russian Federation have been particularly active in using the digital infrastructure of the exchange. Today, these are more than 70 manufacturing and trade organizations from 13 regions of Russia. They sell equipment, electrical appliances, household appliances, tools, spare parts and components through the exchange platform. The second and third places by the amount of exchange contracts are held by Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Residents of these countries import textile raw materials into our country, which are regularly purchased by Belarusian light industry enterprises,” the BUCE press service said.

According to BUCE, in January-May 2024 the turnover of the industrial and consumer goods platform reached Br445.2 million, which is 1.7 times more than in the same period last year. The share of import-substituting products in the structure of transactions amounted to 61%.
