Russia plans to expand Belarusian food line-up in its market

Russia plans to expand Belarusian food line-up in its market
Boris Gryzlov

MINSK, 24 November (BelTA) - Russia plans to expand the line-up of Belarusian food in its market in terms of pork, poultry, feed and other products, Russian Ambassador to Belarus Boris Gryzlov said during a joint meeting of the collegiums of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry and the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, BelTA has learned.

"The signing of the protocol to the Union State program for the common agricultural policy is a good example of cooperation for other Russian and Belarusian agencies. The document outlines further steps to implement the decisions formalized in the national legislation. I believe that certain provisions of the current Union State programs will find their way, one way or another, into the draft Union State Treaty for 2024-2026, which is currently in the works," Ambassador Boris Gryzlov said.

He noted that the joint meeting is a good opportunity to discuss topical issues of interaction in a direct and open manner.

"From year to year, there are fewer and fewer problems that require the search for additional solutions. A good signal is the decreasing number of certain violations and inconsistencies detected by our regulatory authorities and the number of Belarusian enterprises that face temporary restrictions or enhanced laboratory control. At the same time, there are positive developments in terms of tapping the Belarusian market by Russians, primarily with regard to pork, poultry, feed for pedigree cattle and other types of food. It is important that the existing disagreements and problems are openly discussed by specialists and eventually resolved without bringing them to the political level," the Russian ambassador to Belarus said.

Among other things, he noted the need to strengthen the Belarusian-Russian dialogue within the framework of the well-established exhibitions and forums held in the two countries.

"Visits of Russian regional delegations to Belarus are an important contributor to cooperation in agriculture. This year alone, 35 heads of Russian regions have already visited Belarus, and all of them, without exception, returned home with new agreements in agriculture. I am sure that we need to continue this practice, which brings tangible results for our countries," Ambassador Boris Gryzlov summed up.
