MOSCOW, 2 June (BelTA) – Personnel for the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP) will get extensive training at Russian training centers and nuclear power plants in Russia, Deputy Director General for International Business of Rosenergoatom Concern Sergei Antipov said at the 7th international forum Atomexpo 2015, BelTA has learned.
“I can assure you that in terms of professional readiness, Belarus is perhaps the most prepared of all the countries where Russia is building nuclear power plants, except, of course, those that already operate Russia-designed plants. Belarus has a good educational basis. A lot of Belarusians took part in the construction, assembling and commissioning of power generation plants in Russia and Ukraine. Thus, in general, Belarusian specialists are well prepared for the future NPP. Although they will have to undergo additional training courses,” Sergei Antipov noted.
In his words, Belarus and Russia will continue cooperating once the nuclear power plant is commissioned. “Cooperation will be maintained at the level of the operating organizations of Belarus and Russia, and also within the World Association of Nuclear Operators. Apart from that, the general contractor, the chief designer of the reactor and the research advisor are the three key “actors” that will keep oversight over the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant under the aegis of Rosenergoatom,” Sergei Antipov added.
The 7th international forum Atomexpo 2015 is running in Moscow on 1-3 June. The forum highlights safe use of nuclear technologies, radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel management.
