MINSK, 12 May (BelTA) - The Belarusian-Austrian company Raiffeisen Leasing has financed the purchase of 5,000 COVID-19 antibody test kits from China. They will be used to diagnose patients with coronavirus in Minsk and other cities, BelTA learned from the Healthcare Ministry.

The test kits will be delivered to the National Center for Medical Response. It is planned that the center will distribute them among the hospitals. First of all, they will be used to test incoming patients.

These are high-precision COVID-19 antibody tests. Raiffeisen Leasing Belarus noted that such tests are performed to quickly diagnose patients who have contracted the virus or who have already recovered. “This will help Belarusian doctors in their difficult fight against the pandemic. Being part of the Raiffeisen group, we take into account the experience of Austria, which, thanks to extensive testing, was one of the first in Europe to overcome the peak of the epidemic. Much is being done in Belarus too, and we thought it was important to contribute,” the company said.

As of 12 May, 6,974 patients previously diagnosed with COVID-19 recovered and were discharged from hospitals in Belarus. The nationwide tally of the coronavirus cases reached 24,873 people. A total of 38 laboratories are involved in testing in Belarus. So far, 284,445 tests have been performed. A total of 142 coronavirus patients suffering from a number of chronic diseases have died.
