Putin: Belarus and Russia have agreed to pursue a common macroeconomic policy

MOSCOW, 10 September (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia have reached an agreement on pursuing a common macroeconomic policy. President of Russia Vladimir Putin made the statement after negotiations with Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Moscow on 9 September, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Putin said: “We’ve agreed to pursue a common macroeconomic policy, harmonize the monetary management policy, and integrate the payment systems. We’ve agreed on ensuring information security, stepping up cooperation in customs and taxation. I am talking about the transparent customs value of products and about determining the transparent structure of the cost of goods in economy on the whole.”

The Russian leader stated: “Our experts believed that without resolving these issues we shouldn’t transition to any other commodity groups, including energy resources.”

The sides also agreed to work out common methods for harmonizing all the indirect taxes. A body may be set up in the future to control these processes.

According to Vladimir Putin, all of it allowed the sides to come to terms on transition to a common industrial policy and on mutual access to government procurement contracts.
