ST PETERSBURG, 16 July (BelTA) – The matter of compensating for Belarus’ losses caused by changes in the taxation of the Russian oil industry has to be resolved without tying it to the matter of deeper integration of the two countries, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Vladimir Semashko on 16 July.
Vladimir Semashko noted that the sides had come to an understanding in negotiations on compensations for Belarus’ losses caused by the tax maneuver in Russia, however, the Russian partners said the problem would be finally resolved and the necessary decisions would be made only after the matter of tighter integration was wrapped up. “I believe these things should not be tied up with each other because it is necessary to deal with the matters that have become ripe within the framework of other agreements. We should have dealt with them a long time ago, as of 31 January 2019 at the earliest,” the ambassador stated.
