Polish companies eager to invest more in Grodno Oblast

GRODNO, 26 November (BelTA) – The Polish private sector is interested in investing in various spheres of the Grodno Oblast economy, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Association of Polish Business in Belarus Anatoly Velikin. The chairman and other representatives of business circles from Poland’s Podlaskie Voivodeship visited Grodno on 26 November.

Fifteen businessmen representing major companies were made familiar with the economic potential of Grodno Oblast, opportunities for doing business together, and with promising projects. “They are interested in setting up various manufacturing enterprises in Grodno Oblast, invest in, for example, tourism and sport. Several major projects are under consideration. The most important thing is that Polish companies feel comfortable in Belarus. We would like to mention access and openness to coming here and setting up manufacturing enterprises and implementing other projects,” noted Anatoly Velikin.

Anatoly Velikin mentioned his own experience as an example. He is the CEO of the successful Belarusian-Polish joint venture SOOO Bel-Plast International, which has won various awards many times. Deputy Chairwoman of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee Yelena Bubenchik said: “And this is not the only case. Nowadays Grodno Oblast is home to 95 commercial entities with Polish capital. There is a number of major and successful enterprises among them. Grodno Oblast is a territory of unique opportunities and a comfortable investment climate. We have a number of interesting proposals.” Agriculture, woodworking, light and food industries vigorously develop in the region, creating opportunities for higher trade turnover and expanding trade geography. Grodno Oblast also looks promising from the point of view of investments in logistics.

While in Belarus representatives of the Polish private sector are expected to also visit Minsk Oblast and take part in the Belarusian-Polish international economic forum Step Forward, which is due in Volkovysk, Grodno Oblast on 28 November.
