MINSK, 17 July (BelTA) - Belarus and Cuba doubled trade in 2023. In January-May of 2024 trade rose by another 20%, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said as he met with Prime Minister of Cuba Manuel Marrero Cruz on 17 July, BelTA has learned.
“We have already done a lot to fill the economic agenda with practical content. In 2023, we more than doubled our trade. In January-May of this year, according to our statistics, bilateral trade rose by another 20%. But in absolute figures, they are still small. However, given the difficult conditions in which we work, this is a certain success,” Roman Golovchenko said.
A month ago, Minsk hosted a meeting of the Belarusian-Cuban joint commission for trade and economic cooperation.
“One of the most important documents is a protocol to the intergovernmental agreement on mutual supplies, which expands the nomenclature and increases the value volume. In addition, we have carefully compiled the list of Cuban goods for delivery to Belarus,” the prime minister said.
