PM: Belarus-Krasnodar Krai trade continues steady rise

MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia’s Krasnodar Krai are steadily increasing mutual trade, and it is important to keep the pace, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said as he met with Governor of Krasnodar Krai Veniamin Kondratyev in Sochi on 7 June, BelTA has learned.

“During our previous meeting we identified specific areas for work, set forth tasks, signed a road map and organized work to fulfill these instructions. Our teams have generally worked effectively. The result is evident,” Roman Golovchenko said.

In his words, trade is the main measure of success of any cooperation. “2022 was a successful year, and we had a good start this year as well. In January-April, the growth was almost 50% compared with the same stretch a year ago. We have traded for a total of $200 million. If we continue at the same rate, I am confident that we will surpass the last year's figures,” the prime minister said.

The Belarusian head of government emphasized that those figures were the result of the implementation of joint projects.

Veniamin Kondratyev, in turn, expressed confidence that the current volume of commodity turnover is not the limit. The governor praised high quality of the Belarusian passenger vehicles (including trolleybuses, trams, electric buses) and stressed that the region is interested in buying them in the future. “High quality of public transport is the main thing for us today. Electric buses are environmentally friendly transport. It is important not only for Sochi. We are talking about all the coast: Anapa, Gelendzhik, Tuapse and Novorossiysk,” he added.

According to him, Krasnodar Krai is also interested in the supply of dairy products.
