MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian company EnCata intends to implement an investment project to set up a science and technology park in the free economic zone (FEZ) Minsk to provide services for technology startups, BelTA learned from the FEZ administration.
The project provides for construction of pneumo-frame prefabricated buildings near the Privolny village in Minsk Oblast. They will house a design bureau, an R&D center, and a prototyping center. The facility will also feature offices for production consultants, investors, and business mentors. “The park will help introduce R&D solutions in the fields of nanotechnology, microelectronics, aerospace technology, automation of large manufacturing facilities, power electronics, agriculture, medical equipment, and robotics,” the investors explained.
The establishment of the EnCata science and technology park in FEZ Minsk will give advantages to its residents, tech startups, and eventually the whole country in the field of innovative ventures promotion and innovative activity, primarily thanks to developing innovative enterprises and giving them access to international markets.
The project is partly financed from the innovation fund of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.
FEZ Minsk was founded in 1998. Over the period of its operation, it has become a leading industrial center and attracted over $2 billion in investment. About 120 resident companies are registered there. The bulk of FEZ Minsk companies specialize in mechanical engineering and metalworking, chemical and petrochemical industry, forestry and construction. Investors from more than 20 countries have invested in business in the FEZ zone. FEZ Minsk resident companies sell their goods to 70 countries.
