MINSK, 29 March (BelTA) – There are plans to launch the production of roller skis, ski boots, and snowcats (vehicles to prepare ski tracks) in Belarus, President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with participants of the 2018 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games on 29 March, BelTA informs.
“I have instructed Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Belarusian Biathlon Federation Valery Vakulchik to look into the possibility of producing domestic roller skis,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
The Belarusian footwear producer Marko will work on the production of ski boots. Minsk Tractor Works have already started designing snowcats.
“We need to start producing all these things,” the president stressed.
The head of state added that the country has been recently paying serious attention to the training of skiers and biathletes. There are plans to provide the national training camps with snow canons, snowcats and other necessary equipment. These issues are supervised by Head of the Belarus President’s Administration Natalya Kochanova.
Proper conditions for training will also be created in regions.
The plans are also in place to start producing modern and high-quality skis in Telekhany. The president said that he would possibly visit the plant himself to get familiar with the products and the production process.
