MINSK, 12 November (BelTA) – Economic opportunities of Monaco will be presented at a business forum in Belarus in 2019. The statement was made by Ambassador of Belarus to France with concurrent accreditation to Monaco Pavel Latushko in an interview with a Monacan newspaper, BelTA has learned.
According to the source, the first Belarusian-Monacan business forum and a presentation of Belarus’ economic opportunities took place in Monaco on 30 January 2018. An agreement was reached on arranging a reciprocal business forum and Monaco's economic presentation in Belarus in 2019 in combination with a visit of representatives of Monacan business circles to Belarus.
According to Pavel Latushko, economic diplomacy is a priority for Belarus, this is why the country is interested in taking a set of measures to advance trade, economic, and investment cooperation by means of tighter relations with the Monaco Economic Board, by means of organizing mutual visits of representatives of business circles, by arranging business forums, presentations, and other economic events.
Further expansion of the legal base is one of the instruments able to help advance Belarus-Monaco cooperation. For instance, an agreement between the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Monaco Economic Board can help advance cooperation. The establishment of an honorary consulate of Belarus in Monaco and an honorary consulate of Monaco in Belarus were mentioned, too. Candidates for the honorary consul positions are being discussed. Pavel Latushko believes honorary consulates have proven the effectiveness of the concept in, for instance, France and Spain.
The diplomat concluded: “It is important to help spread the word about Belarus in Monaco, about opportunities for cooperation with our country, about our history and culture. In turn, we are ready to help raise the awareness of Belarusians about the principality’s history and modern state. I am convinced we have good prospects for future cooperation.”
