MINSK, 26 February (BelTA) – A delegation of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM) is taking part in an international forum on tourism development, which is scheduled to take place in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on 26-28 February as part of the work of the Youth Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BelTA learned from Olesya Sazankova, international youth cooperation coordinator in the Central Committee of the public association Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM).
The BRSM representative said: “The forum is an international dialogue platform. Heads of government agencies regulating licensing, taxation, representatives of prominent international travel agencies, municipal government agencies as well as the Youth Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization from India, Kazakhstan, China, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan are taking part in the forum.”
Alexandra Lugovskaya, Head of the Project Activities Department at the BRSM Central Committee, is expected to deliver a report during the forum. A number of government programs are being implemented in Belarus to develop tourism not only as a branch of the national economy but as one of its engines. The programs stipulate measures and assets to create modern tourism infrastructure in various parts of the country. The government program Hospitable Belarus for the 2016-2020 period is designed to form and develop a modern competitive tourism complex, increase the contribution of the tourism industry to the development of the national economy. More information about trends in tourism development in the country, new directions, joint tourism projects with other countries, and results achieved by the visa-free travel program, which applies to citizens of 80 countries, who enter Belarus via the Minsk National Airport, will be made available during the forum in Bishkek.
Olesya Sazankova added that the BRSM has been cooperating with the Youth Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization since 2012 as a partner organization.
