Plans for German venture to make composite materials in China-Belarus industrial park

MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) – There are plans to build an enterprise in the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone together with the German company Dieffenbacher in order to make composite materials, BelTA learned from Alexander Yaroshenko, head of the industrial park administration.

The official said: “New composite materials are virtually substitutes for metals. They are now actively used in mechanical engineering. We would love to join the race. The project is estimated at more than €200 million. We expect Belarus, Germany, China, and Russia to participate in the project.” In his words, the industrial park administration intends to sign the agreement for the relevant companies to become residents in the industrial park by the end of the year. The construction of the enterprise may begin in 2018.

Alexander Yaroshenko also said that an agreement on terms of operation of the company Lanz Manufaktur was signed within the framework of the Belarusian-European investment forum in Luxembourg. The company became the 21st resident company in the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone. In line with the agreement an investment project will be implemented in 2017-2020 to start manufacturing LED technology lamps and bulbs. The investments will be at least as large as $500,000.

According to Alexander Yaroshenko, Lanz Manufaktur intends to take an active part in preparations for commissioning facilities ahead of the Second European Games, which Minsk will host in 2019. The company also intends to provide lighting solutions for Moskovskaya Street in Brest on the occasion of the 1,000th anniversary since the city’s foundation. “But the investor is primarily focused on making medical equipment for rehabilitation purposes. If LED lamp production in the industrial park is a success — and we are confident it will be a success, we will do our best to make it happen — the investor intends to implement another larger project that will benefit both the Belarusian economy and people,” said Alexander Yaroshenko.

Alexander Yaroshenko also noted that the German company Duisport, which operates Europe’s largest river port Duisburg, is expected to come to Belarus. Duisport is expected to become a founder of SZAO Industrial Park Development Company. “The port of Duisburg is the final destination of the revived Silk Road. The China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone is positioned as a node of the new Silk Road. We hope that the port will take an active part in the park’s administration and the construction of a multimodal complex in the park in the near future,” summed up Alexander Yaroshenko.
