Parliament speaker: Belarus-Uzbekistan relations are on the rise
Vladimir Andreichenko

MINSK, 6 September (BelTA) - The relations between Belarus and Uzbekistan are on the rise, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said as he met with a parliamentary delegation of Uzbekistan headed by Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva, BelTA has learned.

“Our relations are on the rise. The mutual trade exceeded $500 million in 2022. It keeps growing this year,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.

According to him, the two countries have large reserves. “We want more products to come from your country, if we talk about direct trade exchange. After all, Belarus needs fruit and vegetable products, especially fresh ones, and not only for selling, but also for processing purposes. Enterprises and storage facilities can be set up. I can also mention dried fruits, nuts and other products. Our Baranovichi factory works including on raw materials from Uzbekistan. Belarus, in turn, can increase supplies of its machine-building, meat and dairy, woodworking products, and pharmaceuticals,” the speaker said.

“It is important to support the upward trend we have today, and to use the potential of integration formations, such as the SCO, CIS, and EAEU,” Vladimir Andreichenko stressed.

At the invitation of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, a parliamentary delegation of Uzbekistan led by Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva is paying an official visit to Belarus. The first Belarus-Uzbekistan women's business forum has been organized as part of the visit. On 5 September the forum featured six breakout sessions. The key event of the business forum - the plenary session Women in Business - Potential for Development of Business Cooperation between Belarus and Uzbekistan - will take place on 6 September.

The forum is organized by the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.
