MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – Belarusian agricultural workers have harvested more than 788,000 tonnes of potatoes, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
According to the ministry, the country’s farms are competing the harvest of potatoes. A total of 788,400 tonnes of potatoes have been cropped with the average yields of 351.2 centers per hectare.
Sugar beet harvesting is also in progress in Belarus. Some 3,076,000 tonnes of sugar beet were removed, with the yields standing at 465.1 centners per hectare. Belarus has harvested a total of 130,500 tonnes of vegetables, with the yields averaging 283.1 centners per hectare.
According to the Agriculture and Food Ministry, harvesting of corn kernels is underway in all the regions of the country, with 175,300 hectares of land already cleared. Some 1,433,200 tonnes of corn kernels were threshed, with the yields averaging 81.8 centners per hectare.
Some 21,668,800 tonnes of corn for silage were cropped so far.
The ministry added that as of 23 October, some 8,859,800 tonnes of grain crops and rapeseed were cropped in Belarus.
