MINSK, 31 July (BelTA) – Over 4.9 million tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, has been threshed in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.
As of 31 July, 4.922 million tonnes of grain (including rapeseed) was harvested, which includes 3.890 million tonnes of cereals and leguminous crops and 1.032 tonnes of winter rapeseed. Harvesting of winter rapeseed has been completed.
The regional breakdown is the following: Minsk Oblast harvested 1.243 million tonnes of grain (including rapeseed), Brest Oblast -1.207 million tonnes , Grodno Oblast – 1.079 million tonnes, Gomel Oblast - 540,500 tonnes, Mogilev Oblast - 506,100 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast - 346,000 tonnes.
As to other crops, 75.1% of spring barley was harvested, 66.2% of winter rye, 51.3% of wheat, 43.4% of oats, 43% of triticale, 36.1% of legumes. All oblasts have completed harvesting winter barley.
Meanwhile, flax was pulled from 31,900 hectares, which is 71.3% of the area under this crop.
Straw left after harvesting cereals and leguminous crops was removed from 47.9% of the designated area.
A total of 3.429 million tonnes of grass fodder have been harvested (34.9% of the plan).
Farmers are stepping up efforts to apply organic fertilizers. All in all, 12.2 million tonnes of fertilizers were placed on the fields in the run-up to sowing winter crops, 2.22 million tonnes of fertilizers have already been applied.
