MINSK, 21 October (BelTA) – Belarus has harvested 3.2 million tonnes of sugar beet, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
Harvesting of sugar beet has been completed by 64.7%. The yield averaged 470 centners per hectare.
Belarus also cropped over 1.9 million tonnes of grain maize, with the yield amounting to 78.7 centners per hectare. A total of 247,600 hectares of areas planted to grain maize were harvested (or 80.8% of the plan). More than 20.3 million tonnes of maize green mass with a yield of 230 centners per hectare were removed. Maize for silage and green fodder was harvested on the area of 883,100 hectares (or 93.4% of the harvested area).
As of 21 October, Belarusian agricultural workers harvested 533,400 tonnes of potatoes from 17,300 hectares of potato areas (or 97.4% of the plan). The yield is 309.1 centners per hectare.
A total of 119,300 tonnes of vegetables were harvested, yielding 349.6 centners per hectare (excluding vegetable peas). About 4,400 hectares of sown areas were harvested (or 78.1% of the plan).
