MINSK, 1 February (BelTA) – Belarus will be unable to exist without a strong economy, BelTA learned from Chairwoman of the Economy, Budget, and Finance Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Tatiana Runets.
The senator said: “The Belarus president’s annual address to the nation and the parliament is always a huge political event in the country’s life and leaves no one unmoved. The latest address stood out not only thanks to a new format but thanks to all the burning issues concerning the preservation of the sovereignty and independence of our state, which are addressed to all of us, residents of Belarus. It is worth noting that the president’s address also emphasizes such important areas as state support for large families and young Belarusians, the preservation of the historical memory about the heroic deed of the Belarusian nation during the Great Patriotic War. As the chairwoman of the relevant commission of the Council of the Republic I was mostly concerned about the preservation of Belarus’ economic sovereignty. And I happened to hear the key messages: maximum restraint of the unjustified growth of consumer prices and the minimization of the influence of international inflation processes on our country’s economy.”
The senator stressed that in his address the president drew attention to the smart use of Belarus’ export potential, wise participation of the state in regulating the economy, to the fair distribution of wealth. “I can fully agree with the words of our leader: there will be no Belarus without a strong economy. It is thanks to the right economic policy against the backdrop of rapidly rising world prices and stagnation expectations as well as the aggressive policy of sanctions of the collective West against Belarus that we’ve managed to preserve the real growth of salaries at nearly 105% without curtailing a single social program in addition to increasing housing construction with state support by over 14%,” Tatiana Runets added. “I believe that the tasks the president has formulated are entirely justified and feasible. Because the Belarusian nation is an example of industriousness and sense of purpose, of the ability to overcome any hardships and tribulations together. And our Belarusian development strategy is probably based on our going our own way.”
