LIDA, 16 January (BelTA) – The establishment of new enterprises with foreign capital in Belarus attests to the country’s openness to investors, Sergei Rovneiko, Aide to the Belarus President, Chief Inspector for Grodno Oblast, said at the opening ceremony of a turkey meat processing plant in Lida District, Grodno Oblast on 16 January, BelTA has learned.

“The facility that has been unveiled today clearly shows that our country is open to investment and offers all the necessary conditions for investments to produce returns,” Sergei Rovneiko noted.

The plant is important for the region as it creates new jobs. “The Lithuanian investors will have an opportunity to make sure that Belarusian specialists are top-level professionals. All those who will be working here will do their best to promote the products in the domestic and international markets,” Sergei Rovneiko stressed. He pointed out that the new plant is proof of the successful innovative development of the economy. “We are commissioning not a simple meat processing plant, but a high-tech enterprise with a complete processing cycle. This is what all businesses should be aiming for,” Sergei Rovneiko pointed out.

The plant constructed with the participation of Lithuanian investors will initially make up to 5,500 tonnes of products annually. Over €30 million has been invested in the project implemented by Arvibelagro. In 2015, the company became a resident of the Grodnoinvest Free Economic Zone. Nine aviaries for turkey chicks and feeding facilities were built in Lida District in 2016. A turkey slaughter and processing plant was commissioned in early January 2017. The investment project envisages production of turkey meat, minced meat, semi-finished products, sausage products, smoked and cured products. The facilities built as part of the project will employ up to 200 people.

This is not the first project implemented by ARVI Group of Companies in Grodno Oblast. A plant to process animal waste was put into operation some time ago.
