MINSK, 21 December (BelTA) – The Baltic states' withdrawal from the BRELL circuit of Belarus, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania will not affect the operation of Belarus’ power grid, Belenergo Director General Yevgeny Voronov told a press conference at BelTA’s press center on 21 December.
“The Baltic states’ integration with the European power grid will not affect the operation of the Belarusian one. We are ready for this,” Yevgeny Voronov said. He also stressed that BRELL allows for providing prompt emergency energy assistance.
The Belarusian power grid is self-reliant, Yevgeny Voronov underlined. Taking into account the small-scale exchange of electricity with the Baltic countries, there will be no consequences that will affect the reliability of Belarus’ energy supply.
When asked about electricity exports after the BelNPP becomes operational, the director general remarked that all the neighboring countries are potential consumers of Belarusian energy.
