MINSK, 10 June (BelTA) - Nigeria’s Benue State and Ekiti State would like to send their professionals to improve skills at the University of Civil Protection at the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry, the governors of the states Samuel Ioraer Ortom and John Olukayode Fayemi said as they visited the Belarus university on 10 June, official representative of the university Andrei Sadovsky told BelTA.
The Nigerian side has taken an interest in Belarus’ practice-oriented approach to the training in providing first aid to victims in emergency situations, response to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear incidents. The experience of carrying out rescue operations on all modes of transport, destroyed buildings, rescue operations at an altitude is also of interest to Nigeria.
The University of Civil Protection at the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry has cooperated with the Federal Republic of Nigeria since 2012. Dome 68 professionals have graduated from the university since then.
