Nigeria interested in economic, humanitarian contacts with Belarus

MINSK, 10 July (BelTA) – Nigeria would like to cooperate with Belarus in economy and humanitarian matters, First Lady of Nigeria Oluremi Tinubu said as she met with Chair of the Council of the Republic, the upper chamber of Belarus’ parliament, Natalya Kochanova in Minsk on 10 July, BelTA has learned.

According to her, Belarusians are as hardworking as Nigerians. Our countries have everything in place to promote cooperation in all areas. “Your agricultural products are a great asset. We are interested in cooperation in this sector, as well as in trade, technology, especially in manufacturing technology. We are ready to cooperate in education, science and culture. We have very strong human capital. It will be good to do student exchanges. Our young people are thirsty for knowledge, they are ready to learn and pursue their aspirations and utilize their talents so that their countries can be proud of them,” Oluremi Tinubu said.

The first lady of Nigeria suggested stepping up inter-parliamentary interaction and contacts between public organizations.

“We have a request. We really want to open an embassy in your country. We still don’t have it,” Oluremi Tinubu added.
