SVETLOGORSK, 14 February (BelTA) - A new bleached sulfate pulp plant of the Svetlogorsk Pulp and Board Mill poses no environmental risks, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko was assured as he visited the company on 14 February, BelTA has learned.
During his visit the head of state asked if all the environmental matters were addressed when the new plant was set up.
Chairman of the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom Yuri Nazarov said that there were no problems. “Otherwise, we would not have signed the commissioning documents,” he said.
In his words, the plant has been put into operation and has been gradually moving towards its designed capacity. Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that today’s number one task is to receive value added products.
