GOMEL, 8 April (BelTA) – A new oil deposit has been found in Belarus. It is the third oil deposit that has been discovered so far this year, representatives of the Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft told BelTA.
Belorusneft specialists discovered the Guryanovskoye oil deposit. It is located in the central zone of the Pripyat Trough in Rechitsa District, Gomel Oblast.
According to preliminary estimates, geological reserves of the Guryanovskoye oil deposit are estimated at 600,000 tonnes. Tests give reasons to believe that the deposit will produce oil flow to surface. The reserves will be calculated more precisely after an oil well is built and the well is properly tapped and after the geological structure of the Guryanovskoye oil deposit is clarified.
Results of drilling operations and the discovery of the new oil deposit increase prospects and the resource potential of the central zone of the Pripyat Trough. There are plans to drill 13 exploratory wells in the area in 2021-2022.
The Guryanovskoye oil deposit is the third oil deposit that has been discovered so far this year. The previous two are Novo-Domanovichskoye and Vostochno-Izbynskoye deposits. The increase in the available oil reserves has already exceeded the annual oil extraction volume.
The Belarusian industrial group Belorusneft was founded in 1966. The company specializes in exploration, prospecting, and development of oil fields, well drilling, extraction of oil and associated petroleum gas. Belorusneft also offers oil industry services in other countries.
