New Belarus-China cargo railway route opened
BEIJING, 29 April (BelTA-Xinhua) – A cargo train loaded with containers left the city of Baoding, Hebei Province, China for Minsk several days ago, BelTA has learned.
The first special train bears 41 containers full of construction materials that will be used in Belarus to build a logistics depot and halls of residence for university students. The train will spend 12-14 days to cross a distance of 9,500km.
Representatives of the Beijing railroad administration said that the opening of the new railway route is viewed as an important step in implementing the One Belt, One Road initiative (the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road) as well as the state strategy on the joint development of the Beijing – Tianjin – Hebei region.
One or two trains will use the new route every week to deliver plastic products, automobile components, raw materials for making medications, and electronic products from China to Europe.
