MINSK, 9 February (BelTA) - The net inflow of foreign direct investment in the Belarusian economy has increased by 15% in 2022, Belarusian Economy Minister Aleksandr Chervyakov told BelTA.

“In 2022, the Belarusian economy received $1.5 billion of net FDI, up 15.3% compared with a year ago,” Aleksandr Chervyakov said.

According to him, about 1,000 commercial investment projects were in progress last year, and 175 of them were completed. “In 2023 we are planning to implement about 1,000 projects with the total investment of about Br6 billion,” the minister said.

Preferential regimes have been successfully operating. In 2022, some 53 new residents joined free economic zones, the Great Stone Industrial Park and Bremino-Orsha. They will implement business ideas in woodworking, agriculture, chemical industry, mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals and other promising areas. Some 2,700 new high-performance jobs will be created.

“The state continues to invest in the construction of housing and social infrastructure. More than 4.2 million square meters of housing, 29 healthcare facilities, four schools, 11 kindergartens and other infrastructure facilities were built last year. A total of more than 530 infrastructure projects were implemented as part of the national infrastructure plan with Br3.2 billion funding,” the minister said.
